01 A Guardian's Quest

Cheney, our founder, was a young forest ranger who had an inseparable companion: Bear, a ten-year-old retired search and rescue dog. Spending countless hours tending to the forest and planting trees, Cheney became acutely aware of the harmful effects of foam on the environment. After several unsuccessful attempts at creating a dog bed using wood and thick cotton pads, she noticed that Bear's aging joints were deteriorating, significantly impacting his sleep and negatively affecting his mood, memory, and attention. She knew the cotton pad was taking a toll on Bear's body, but she couldn't find a bed suitable for his specific needs. At her wit's end, she turned to Gee, a master craftsman specializing in leather sofas, to custom-make a bed for Bear.

02 Tailored to Perfection

Gee is a seasoned artisan with four decades of experience. Knowing Bear's condition, he wanted to give this faithful friend a comfortable retirement. He meticulously measured Bear's body and created four beds with varying levels of firmness. Each month, Bear was given a new bed to sleep on, and Gee used a sleep tracking app to monitor his rest. This process continued for six months.

03 Unexpected Challenges

Just as they had determined the ideal firmness for Bear's bed, winter arrived. Gee's expertise lay in leather upholstery, so Cheney began to research the effects of different fabrics on human emotions. She discovered that while there was extensive research on fabrics used for baby clothing, little had been done to explore their impact on dogs. She realized that Bear deserved the same level of care and attention as a human infant.

Together, Cheney and Gee created a variety of beds for Bear using different fabrics, ensuring he was comfortable throughout the changing seasons.

Sadly, Bear passed away a year later.

04 The CHANGENE Journey

The remaining beds became a catalyst for Cheney and Gee. They decided to honor Bear's memory by starting Changene, a brand dedicated to creating the perfect dog beds. The name "Changene" signifies the idea of constant change and improvement.
